South Carolina Homeowners Insurance
South Carolina is famous for its subtropical beaches, sandy sea islands and a balance of country and city living that adds up to an easygoing way of life.
The Palmetto State boasts nearly 3,000 miles of shoreline, complete with sprawling resorts and offshore fun, making it the perfect place for beach lovers. But those idyllic beaches and waterfronts that make South Carolina an appealing place to call home also carry unique risks for homeowners.
We understand the issues South Carolina homeowners face and offer a comprehensive range of products to help protect the life you’ve built.
SageSure offers the following products for residents in South Carolina:
Homeowners Policy (HO3)
Our HO3 homeowners policy protects your home, other structures and belongings from damages caused by an unforeseen loss. Your home and other structures are covered on an open peril* basis, subject to the exclusions listed in the policy. Your personal belongings are covered for the named perils** listed. The policy can help pay for bodily injury or property damage you are legally responsible for, such as when a guest is injured on your property, or you or a family member accidentally injures someone or damages their property.
Most homeowners insurance policies do not cover damage from floods or earthquakes. However, there may be additional coverage options available to purchase.
Flooding is a temporary overflow of water onto land that is normally dry. Floods are the most common natural disaster in the United States. Failing to evacuate flooded areas or entering flood waters can lead to injury or death.
Floods may:
- Result from rain, snow, coastal storms, storm surges and overflows of dams and other water systems.
- Develop slowly or quickly. Flash floods can come with no warning.
- Cause outages, disrupt transportation, damage buildings and create landslides.
Homeowners Policy (HO5)
A critical distinction between an HO3 and HO5 policy is that while both policies provide extensive open peril* coverage for your home’s physical structure, an HO5 policy offers open peril* coverage for both your home and your belongings.
Manufactured Home (MHO)
Our manufactured homeowner policy protects your home and belongings from a broad range of events. Unless those events are expressly excluded, you’re covered. Your manufactured home and personal belongings are covered on an actual cash value basis. Actual cash value (ACV) is the amount equal to the replacement cost minus depreciation of damaged or stolen property at the time of the loss. When your personal property is lost or damaged, we will reimburse you the actual cash value of the property at the time of loss, up to the limit of insurance. The policy also provides liability coverage, so you’re protected should you or a family member accidentally injure someone or damage their property.
Dwelling Fire (DP3)
A DP3 dwelling fire policy is the most comprehensive policy available for rental and other non-owner-occupied homes. The DP3 provides dwelling and other structure coverage, and covers the landlord’s furnishings, loss of rent, and on-premises liability.
Condo (HO6)
Our HO6 condominium policy covers the appliances, fixtures, and alterations and improvements made by you, as well as part of the building contained within the interior structure of a condo unit that you are responsible for. It also covers your personal belongings (contents) on a named perils** basis. Our HO6 policy also offers liability coverage, so you’re protected if a guest is injured in your unit or you accidentally injure someone or cause damage to their property. There is also coverage for loss assessment, should you be assessed for a covered loss to commonly owned property by association owners, like the club house or community pool.
*Open perils – coverage is provided for all loss types unless specifically excluded. Standard exclusions include but not limited to earthquake, flood, nuclear disaster, acts of war and intentional loss.
**Named perils – coverage is provided for specific perils only. Typically include fire, lightning, windstorm or hail, explosion, riot, aircraft damage, vehicle damage, vandalism, theft, among others. Some perils may still be excluded.
Actual coverage will be determined at the time and location of the loss, based on the coverage in place, and laws in effect in the jurisdiction where the loss occurred.
