Values in Action: SageSure Employee Turns Challenges into Chance—On and Off the Job
HOW ONE CLAIMS ADJUSTER TRANSFORMED A FARM INTO A THRIVING ANIMAL SANCTUARY
November 19, 2025 — Social responsibility
Bryan Krieger, Senior Property Claims Adjuster at SageSure, approaches every challenge with the same mindset: see the problem, find the solution, and turn it into an opportunity to learn and grow. That philosophy not only guides how he helps SageSure policyholders rebuild after loss, but also how he and his wife, April, built a nonprofit animal sanctuary from the ground up.
Before meeting April, Bryan had never owned a pet. April, on the other hand, was used to a home full of rescue animals. Bryan jumped right in and by the time they married, their family included five dogs and a cat. When they found an abandoned six-acre farm, complete with a fixer-upper house and no running water, Bryan didn’t see obstacles—he saw potential. He rolled up his sleeves and helped transform the house into a home.

So, when they heard of a few horses that needed a home, it was only natural for Bryan and April to step in. They quickly repaired the barn, fixed fences, and provided the animals with a safe place to stay. That experience opened their eyes to a broader need in their community, leading them in 2019 to found Fabled Farm Rescue and Sanctuary in Christiana, TN—a nonprofit dedicated to giving neglected, abandoned, and overlooked animals a second chance.
“April and I have always loved animals but seeing how many suffer simply because they were no longer ‘useful’ or ‘easy’ pushed us to act,” says Bryan. “We realized that with a dedicated space, we could give these animals the care and compassion they deserved.”
At SageSure, Bryan brings the same commitment and problem-solving approach to his work—assessing claims with care and looking beyond immediate damage to understand the full picture. His role requires empathy, attention to detail, creativity, and a commitment to putting people—and their property—first, delivering thoughtful support.
Bryan’s commitment to care continues beyond the workday. The same values that guide him at SageSure—empathy, perseverance, and problem-solving—also fuel his passion for animal rescue.

In 2024, approximately 5.8 million dogs and cats entered shelters and rescues across the US. A few of those animals have since found their way to Fabled Farm, a sanctuary dedicated to giving second chances—especially to those often overlooked due to age, medical issues, or behavioral challenges.
“Rescue work isn’t always easy—it’s heartbreaking at times—but it’s always full of hope,” Bryan said.
“Every animal we save is a reminder that kindness matters.” His commitment to compassion echoes the way SageSure shows up for policyholders every day—from devastating catastrophes to routine claims—and underpins his achievements in the office and on the farm.
Since its founding, Fabled Farm Rescue and Sanctuary has grown from a small effort into a full-fledged farm animal sanctuary, providing forever homes for some animals, foster care for others, and serving as the backdrop for countless heartwarming rescue stories.
One of the most memorable is Ritz, a senior therapy horse who arrived in 2021, suffering from severe neglect and starvation—the worst the couple had seen. He was severely underweight and had an untreated eye injury that had caused his eye to close completely due to pain.

With guidance from veterinarians, Bryan and April created a slow refeeding plan. Over the course of six months, Ritz transformed from a weak horse who could barely lift his head into a glossy-coated, playful one who galloped around the pasture, formed friendships with the other horses, and delighted in every pet and grooming session. His injured eye had to be removed, but with the care he received from Bryan and April, he was strong enough to handle the surgery and had the chance to thrive again.
On the farm, April serves as executive director and oversees intakes and adoptions, medical care, events, and outreach. Bryan focuses on operations and infrastructure, handling building projects and maintenance. Together, with a nationwide community of advocates, donors, and supporters, they’ve ensured the animal sanctuary is more than just a safe place for the many horses, goats, pigs, donkeys, cats, dogs, and chickens that live there—it’s a home. Since its inception, Fabled Farm Rescue and Sanctuary has helped over 500 animals find forever homes.
“We’ve built barns, kitten rooms, a medical ICU, safe enclosures, and special areas for senior and special needs animals,” says Bryan. “Online, we’ve built a community of supporters who donate, sponsor animals, and even visit to see the sanctuary firsthand.”
Bryan approaches every challenge as a chance to create something positive—whether he’s helping policyholders at SageSure rebuild after loss or giving animals a second chance at life.
